What are the uses of a stove or oven in a laboratory?

It is a device used in the laboratory, to sterilize and dry glass or metal containers, removing all moisture from the containers. In addition, it transmits temperatures higher than those of the environment, allowing to remove all moisture.

It also offers dry heat sterilization at temperatures of 180 degrees Celsius for about 2 hours, leaving completely free of any biological activity.

It has appropriate characteristics, capable of establishing complex series of experiments with very sensitive loads, testing materials, subjecting electronic components to a drying process or regulating their temperature, hardening synthetic resins or heating plasticine, carrying out processes of temperature regulation, with levels of precision, uniformity and delicacy incomparable.

Functions of the Stove in a Laboratory

It is important that in the laboratories, have the stoves or ovens for sterilization, washing and drying of instruments that have been used, placing metal and glass containers inside the stove and thus offer optical conditions, for future use.ย

Working Temperature +5ยฐC ambient temperature up to 250ยฐC are used in studies where it does not require such a rigorous temperature accuracy, since they can exceed their internal temperature by thermal inertia, up to 12ยฐC.ย 
  • Forced convection and Horizontal Flow furnaces: transfer heat between areas with different temperatures, with an accuracy of +-0.5ยฐC and the time in which it stabilizes is calculated between 25 minutes to 40 minutes, this can vary by the volume of material within the equipment and the size. Working temperature +5ยฐC room temperature up to 250ยฐC.
  • Air Jet Furnaces (Sterilizing Furnace): reaches an accuracy of +-1ยฐC and the time in which it stabilizes is calculated between 15 minutes to 20 minutes this can vary by the volume of material within the equipment and the size. Working temperature +5ยฐC room temperature up to 220ยฐC.
  • Vacuum furnaces: it has temperatures of +-1ยฐC and the time in which it stabilizes is calculated between 20 minutes to 35 minutes, this can vary by the volume of material within the equipment and the size. Working Temperature 50ยฐC to 200ยฐC.
